I received a call from the eye clinic offering a cancelled slot for a combined cataract and stent operation the following day. After a very short wait, I had the pre-op checks and very quickly found myself in the operating room. Gokulan explained the procedures in a very thorough way in a most reassuring way. During the op, I felt no pain or discomfort and was very interested in the explanations of his techniques to a trainee surgeon. The post op procedures were quickly completed and soon I was off home with my eye cover and two types of eye drops, after a good explanation of how and when to use them. After 24 hours, I removed my eye cover and was immediately struck by the brightness and clarity of the tv picture. My first cataract operation was nine years ago and after both operations coupled with the stent, I would not hesitate to recommend people to have a cataract problem corrected. Over the last nine years of annual checks, I have always been impressed by the staff at the Queen Victoria eye clinic.

Last week I attended the Queen Victoria Hospital East Grinstead Glaucoma Eye Clinic five weeks after my operation. The surgery carried out by Mr. Gokulan Ratnaragan involved two stents being inserted in the eye, removal of cataract and laser treatment. The operation under local anaesthetic I found completely painless. I am very happy to say that thanks to Mr. Ratnaragan and his team my pressures in the operated eye are much lower and colours are much brighter than before. I am now on a waiting list to have a similar procedure on the other eye. I should like to say how much I appreciate the kindness and professionalism shown by all the nurses and staff at the Eye Clinic, and also the theatre team, not forgetting the post op. nurse who wrapped me in lovely warm blankets!

In early September 2017 I was diagnosed with glaucoma in both eyes. Thanks to the timely intervention of Mr Gokulan Ratnarjan and his enormous skill in dealing with such problems, I am now on the way to recovery. I understand the technique he employed is new, stents in the eyes to relieve the pressure, and I would urge any patient suffering from the same symptoms to seek out Mr Ratnarjan for similar treatment. My thanks to Gokulan for saving my sight.
